NICOLA LO CALZO

As autobiographical project, based on the idea of identity and of the human family, “The Other Family (Intimisto)” is a series of portraits of men, women and children that the photographer has gradually added to its friendly environment and today it represents his intimate and personal universe. As in Inside Niger, Nicola Lo Calzo gives more importance to private and social realities and his gaze refers as to the identity as an individual uniqueness. He establishes a complicity with a model to the point that the photographed subject becomes co-author of his own portrait. For Nicola Lo Calzo is the dignity of the subject which guarantees the legitimacy of the photograph and it is based not only on ideological and aesthetic choice but also on a very strong personal ethics.
